Meteorological Mast

Meteorological Mast

A meteorological mast is a steel tower used to mount wind sensors, temperature probes, and other weather instruments. It is also called a met mast or wind measurement tower. We build two main types: guyed and self-supporting.

Guyed masts use a triangular lattice section with guy wires. They use less steel and are easier to transport than self-supporting towers of the same height. Self-supporting masts are freestanding and suit sites where guy wires are not practical. Both are hot-dip galvanized to ISO 1461 or ASTM A123.

Heights range from 10 m to 150 m. Sensor load, wind speed, and site conditions determine the final design. Typical installations include wind farm prospecting, meteorological stations, airport weather monitoring, and environmental research.
