Monopole Lightning Mast supports the air terminal above the equipment or building covered by the lightning protection design. The single-pole structure has no guy wires and needs less ground space than a conventional lattice tower.
We fabricate the shaft from Q235B or Q355B structural steel. Shorter masts can be shipped in one piece; taller units are divided into sections with flange or slip joints. Each mast is supplied with a base plate for mounting to the foundation anchor bolts.
The shaft diameter, wall thickness and foundation reactions are calculated from the mast height and the loads at the site. The lightning protection designer also decides the air-terminal arrangement, whether the steel mast can serve as a natural down conductor, and the required grounding system.

Specifications
| Structure | Self-supporting tapered tubular steel pole |
| Common height range | 8 to 40 m (26 to 131 ft); final height subject to structural and transport review |
| Steel | Q235B or Q355B; other grades can be quoted to the project specification |
| Shaft sections | One-piece or sectional construction with flange or slip joints |
| Air terminal | Single or multiple points, supplied when included in the order and arranged to the approved lightning protection design |
| Design loads | Wind, ice, seismic and temperature loads taken from the site data and applicable structural code |
| Corrosion protection | Fabricated shaft hot-dip galvanized to ISO 1461:2022 or ASTM A123/A123M-24; fastener coating specified separately |
| Foundation connection | Welded base plate with anchor bolts; foundation designed from mast reactions and soil data |
| Down conductor | Steel mast as a natural component or a separate conductor, as confirmed by the lightning protection designer |
| Lightning protection | Designed to IEC 62305-3:2024 or the standard named in the project specification |
For a quotation, send the site location, required mast height, wind and ice data, soil report and preferred foundation arrangement. Please include the lightning protection layout and grounding requirements if they are already available.
Applications
Monopole lightning masts are used at substations, telecom compounds, data facilities, factories, storage tank areas and commercial rooftops. Rooftop installation requires the building engineer to check the mast reactions, anchorage and load path before installation.
