Guyed Meteorological Tower and guyed met mast are two common names for the same structure. It carries anemometers, wind vanes and other measuring instruments at specified heights. It is commonly installed for wind resource assessment, weather observation and site monitoring. The guyed structure uses less steel than a comparable self-supporting tower, but it needs enough clear ground for the anchor foundations.
We make the mast in transportable sections for bolted assembly on site. The instrument schedule is used to position the sensor booms, cable clips and junction boxes before fabrication. Boom length and orientation are especially important on wind-measurement masts because the tower and nearby instruments can affect airflow.
Before quoting, we check the required height, local wind and ice conditions, instrument positions, boom orientation, guy radius and available anchor locations. The mast, guy wires, anchors and foundations are designed as one system. If the mast is for a wind-energy study, the measurement layout can be prepared to the project requirements and the applicable edition of IEC 61400-12-1.

Specifications
| Structure | Three-leg lattice mast or tubular mast in bolted sections |
| Common heights | 10, 30, 50, 60, 80 and 100 m; other heights designed to order |
| Main steel | Q235B or Q355B structural steel, selected by calculation |
| Section length | Set to suit container loading, transport limits and the planned erection method |
| Guy system | Galvanized steel strand in three or four directions, with levels set by tower design |
| Sensor mounting | Custom booms and brackets for anemometers, wind vanes and weather sensors |
| Design basis | Site wind speed, ice load, terrain, instrument area and the specified local or international design code |
| Standards | TIA-222, EN 1993-3-1 or the project code; IEC 61400-12-1 for wind-measurement layout when specified |
| Corrosion protection | Hot-dip galvanizing; aviation marking or a duplex coating can be applied when required |
| Access | Climbing steps or ladder with fall-arrest rail as specified |
| Foundation | Central base foundation with separate guy anchors, designed from soil data |
| Accessories | Lightning protection, grounding, aviation lights, cable clips and equipment cabinet |
For a quotation, send the site coordinates, required mast height, instrument list, measurement elevations and available anchor radius. Soil data is required before we prepare the final foundation drawings.
Application
Guyed met masts are used at wind farm sites, weather stations, airports, research facilities and industrial plants. Some carry only wind instruments. Others are fitted with temperature, humidity, pressure or solar-radiation sensors. The sensor list and required measurement heights determine the final arrangement.
